For my best friend Ryan's birthday, my friends and I bought her tickets to go see In The Heights on Broadway. So this Sunday, Ryan, her sister Cam, our friend Allyson and I are going to see the show. I am so freaking excited. I have already seen In The Heights, twice, actually, but it is one of my favorite Broadway shows, and for good reason. The music is phenomenal, as are the talents involved in the show itself. The original cast, with whom I saw the show for the first time, was absolutely perfect in their execution and their understanding of the underlying message of the show. The guy who wrote the musical, Lin Manuel Miranda, played the main character, Usnavi, who joined theatre queen, Karen Olivo (who previously appeared as Mimi in Rent, and now plays Anita in the revival of West Side Story) and other talented individuals to put on an amazing show.
However, currently starring as Usnavi is Corbin Bleu. You know, from High School Musical? I'm not sure how I feel about that, actually. I guess I will see how he is when I see it on Sunday!
This is the performance from In The Heights that was performed at the Tony's in 2008, when it won some stuff. LOL. watch, it's good.
